Vanjoki, who announced its decision to leave his post in the Finnish multinational, will have six months in the company, although Elop was responsible for the management of the unit ‘Mobile Solutions’, so far Vanjoki ran from the 12th of October for unit of smartphones.
Nokia CEO thanked on behalf of the entire management team Vanjoki the contribution made by all these years and said he “appreciate” the role he has played in the company. “We wish all the best for the future,” he said.
Vanjoki became the head of the division of ‘Mobile Solutions’ by Nokia on 1 July after the reorganization that took place in the company.
Vanjoki-led unit was responsible for laptops and high end smartphones based on both the platform and Symbian Meego as its goal was to try to reach the big players like Apple, Google and RIM in a sector where the Finnish has not achieved the expected results.
Vanjoki’s resignation comes a few weeks after the Nokia Board of Directors appointed as new president and CEO of the multinational Stephen Elop, who ran the Microsoft Business Division, replacing Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo.
